Van Horn Dodge recently sponsored a very successful festival to showcase the best of Hmong art, craft, culture and cuisine. It was held on Saturday, Aug. 18, at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. The purpose of this event, according to Yer Yang, a Hmong teacher, is to ”provide a positive perspective of Hmong culture. Our intention is really to educate the mainstream about the Hmong people.”

We’ve really tried to be an advocate and help the rest of the community understand Hmong culture and traditions. The cultural and arts fair portion of Hmong Elements took place during the day, and visitors were able to visit with Hmong artists including well-known Hmong artists See Xeng Lee, a painter from Minnesota, and Kou Vang, a visual artist who works in graphic art design. Local artists Houa Yang, a photographer, and Toua Hue Yang, a tattoo artist, were also there to talk to visitors about their work and their role in preserving Hmong art. There was Hmong food as well as a special focus on storytelling featuring Ex Fabula, a company in residence at the Arts Center that fosters storytelling events.

At the same time, Hmong leaders from around the country held a leadership symposium to discuss education, business and economic opportunities for the Hmong people and status and future of the Hmong people in the United States.

Chevrolet and Joe Van Horn Chevrolet Backs New Vehicle Lineup with Guarantee

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

Plymouth, WI 7/20/12 Chevrolet and Joe Van Horn Chevrolet are building on the momentum of record breaking global sales and the total transformation of its product lineup by making consumers a bold new guarantee – if you don’t love it, return it.

Starting today participating U.S. retailers will offer the Chevy Confidence program which includes:

  • “Love it or Return it” – a vehicle return program on every new 2012 or 2013 model year vehicle purchase. Customers can return vehicles bought during the program, with less than 4,000 miles driven and no damage, 30 to 60 days from the purchase date.  It’s simple – if you don’t love it, return it.
  • “Total Confidence Pricing” – all 2012 model year Chevrolets will be offered at special preferred prices in addition to all current vehicle-specific incentives.  No mystery about it – the price you see is the price you pay.
  • For full program details and limitations go to chevyconfidence.com.

“We have transformed the Chevrolet lineup, so there is no better time than now to reach out to new customers with the love it or return it guarantee and very attractive, bottom line pricing,” said Chris Perry, Chevrolet global vice president of marketing. “We think customers who have been driving competitive makes or even older Chevrolets will be very pleased by today’s Chevrolet designs, easy-to-use technologies, comprehensive safety and the quality built into all of our cars, trucks and crossovers.”

“Research has shown customers respond positively to the confidence companies demonstrate with programs like this and appreciate the peace of mind that comes with knowing they have the option of being able to return their vehicle,” said Perry.

With a solid new lineup of vehicles to sell, Chevrolet’s U.S. dealers, including Joe Van Horn Chevrolet, have worked to elevate the retail experience by undergoing a transformation of their own. The results are new showrooms that better showcase the brand, and more highly trained staffs delivering a greater level of customer service.

“The Chevrolet Confidence program will help attract new and old customers to our showroom by adding another element of consumer convenience,” said Dennis Erdly of Joe Van Horn Chevrolet. “Area drivers continue to discover the new Chevy lineup, and we know that once they get behind the wheel of one of our Chevy vehicles that they are more likely to drive one home.”

Chevrolet sold 4.76 million vehicles around the world in 2011, setting a global sales record, and is on track to build on that success in 2012 with its best-ever first quarter global sales of 1.18 million vehicles. The U.S. was the brand’s leading market and was the leader in both passenger car and performance car sales in 2011. During the past two calendar years, Chevrolet has grown faster than other high-volume global brands, bringing its global market share to 6.28 percent.

Chevrolet vehicles are consistently recognized for delivering the quality, features and fuel economy that consumers want. For example, the Malibu was recently recognized as the highest-performing midsize car in the 2012 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality StudySM.  The Silverado HD, Avalanche and Tahoe were also among the top three in their respective segments and the Chevrolet brand turned in its best-ever performance in the study with an overall improvement of 8 percent.

Edmunds.com and Parents magazine have also recognized the Cruze Eco and Sonic as two of the Best Family Cars for 2012. Both the Cruze Eco and Sonic deliver fuel economy of 40 mpg or more on the highway and offer consumers the comfort, safety and advanced technology they expect at a value.

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

Van Horn Chrysler Dodge Jeep was honored for 25 years as a Chrysler dealer when executives from Chrysler Corporation visited the dealership on Monday June 4th.

Chuck & Trina Van Horn are recognized for 25 years of service
as a Dodge dealer

“We were all very excited when Chrysler contacted us and said they would be recognizing Chuck’s accomplishments. And I can assure you that the whole Van Horn team is extremely proud of this milestone” said Richard Strong, General Manager of Van Horn Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

Chuck Van Horn has been operating the Van Horn Dodge store since 1987, and added the Jeep and Chrysler franchises in 2009.  The business is part of the Van Horn Automotive group, which was originally founded by Joe Van Horn in 1966.  His son, Chuck looking back, recalls these being challenging times as Joe moved his family from Chicago to Plymouth to purchase Wagner Chevrolet and open his first store, Joe Van Horn Chevrolet.

“I’m honored to receive the award,” Chuck Van Horn said of the plaque, which will be put on display in the dealership.  “We’re looking forward to another 25 years of continued success with the Chrysler brand”

Chrysler Corporation representatives presented the plaque and offered congratulations to Chuck Van Horn and the employees for their years of service as a Dodge dealer.

New Van Horn Store: Dane County Auto Sales

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

The former Kayser Chrysler Center of Stoughton has been purchased by the Van Horn Automotive Group of Plymouth, WI. The new dealership has been renamed Dane County Auto Sales offering Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram as well as a wide selection of various pre-owned makes and models. The store will be owned and operated by J.P. Van Horn, who hopes to settle into the Stoughton community along with his wife and two sons. Marty Krepsky, General Manager, is also looking forward to relocating to the Stoughton community with his family.

“We are honored to become a member of this great community,” said J.P. Van Horn. “We really have our work cut out for us this time as the business has been badly neglected for a long time. The previous owners basically left the place for dead, leaving the employees to make the best of it. These individuals and the vendors who really supported this location had lost any real way to make a living. I really respect these employees who were able to survive and hang on with the rug pulled out from under them.”

“The good news is that we are going to turn all that around right now,” J.P. continues. “We are going to completely renovate the entire building, inside and out. We are also currently hiring many good people in all departments to grow this team. This will be a great place to do business and a proud member of the Stoughton community. Our expansion plans will serve Dane County, but our business model reaches out to attract customers from all over the country.”

J.P. Van Horn discusses his vision of the future for Dane County Auto Sales. “Unfortunately, only about a dozen employees were able to survive the dismantling of the Ford franchise and the gutting of the business. Once I get my furnace fired up and my renovations complete, Stoughton will enjoy a very successful new business partner to be proud of, with 20 to 30 new employees and total sales projected in excess of $25 million dollars annually. Dane County Auto Sales will be a part of the thriving success story that is Stoughton. Our business model is best described by our motto. ‘The Big Dealer in a small town.’ Please come do business with us; we want to do business with you!

The Van Horn Automotive Group is a family run organization started in 1966. It has locations in Plymouth, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Milwaukee and now Stoughton. Van Horn specializes in wholesaling specialty cars and auto parts to price sensitive fleets and end use customers throughout the country via the internet.

Plymouth, WI – Joe Van Horn Chevrolet announced today its continued support of Plymouth, youth baseball and baseball fans through the Chevrolet “Diamonds & Dreams” program. Joe Van Horn Chevrolet encourages residents to register online at www.chevybaseball.com for a chance to win one of 12 field makeovers and the grand prize of an all-new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco.*

Participants can enter through www.chevybaseball.com for a chance to win a refurbished baseball field for their community or another community they feel is deserving.  One winner will be chosen each week for up to 12 weeks through July 22.

“Every young person wants and deserves a ‘dream’ baseball diamond, and we offer them a chance to get one,” said Teresa Van Horn, owner for Joe Van Horn Chevrolet.

In its third year, “Diamonds & Dreams” has already awarded 25 youth field makeovers across the country. “From the backyards to the big leagues, Chevrolet is committed to community and youth baseball and giving back to where our customers live, work and play,” said Phil Caruso, Chevrolet National Promotions Manager.

Renovations of the 12 field makeovers will be administered through Ripken Design, a division of Ripken Baseball, the company owned and operated by National Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., and 12-year Major League Baseball® veteran Bill Ripken. “I have been working with Chevy for about two decades and it is a relationship that I value a great deal, said Cal Ripken. “Together we are positively impacting kids through baseball at the grassroots level and giving them safe places to play. It is a very gratifying part of what we do, and I appreciate Chevrolet making us a part of this terrific effort.”

The Official Lawn Care Company of Major League Baseball®, Scotts®, will continue to partner with Chevrolet and lend its support on multiple field refurbishments. As the Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball®, Chevrolet has also expanded its support of MLB® to youth baseball players in communities across the country through the Chevrolet Youth Baseball (CYB) program. In its seventh year, CYB has helped raise more than $13 million to aid local teams, affecting more than 2.7 million young people in communities across the country.  This year, about 1,600 Chevrolet dealers are participating.
