Van Horn Automotive Group’s Annual ‘Stuff the Trunk’ Event: Making a Big Impact with Big Brothers Big Sisters Students

August 15th, 2024 by

Van Horn Automotive Group partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters for the fourth consecutive year to host their annual ‘Stuff the Trunk’ event. During the period of July 17 to August 3rd, all 16 Van Horn locations opened the trunk of a showroom vehicle to be filled with school supplies. Employees and customers were invited to contribute items such as folders, glue sticks, notebooks, backpacks, markers, and other essentials to help students start their school year off right. Monetary donations were also accepted.

In total, the 16 Van Horn locations and supporting departments collected over 2,600 school supplies. These items will be distributed to Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across Wisconsin and Iowa, significantly impacting the lives of many students in these communities. Denise Wittstock, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters WI Shoreline, emphasized this impact, stating, “Van Horn’s ongoing commitment to our cause is inspiring. For the young people we work with, having their worry about not having what they need to start a new school year replaced with feelings of joy and gratitude makes a world of difference. Knowing the community has rallied around them, reinforces their excitement to tackle a new school year.”

“Each year, we see an even better turnout, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the enthusiasm of our staff and the local community in supporting this initiative,” said Ryan Thiel, Executive Director of Marketing & Public Relations at Van Horn Automotive Group. “I’m eager to see what next year brings. A big thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a success.”
