Brian Wieland, Used Car Director for Van Horn Automotive Group, would describe the 2020 dirt track racing season as a “tough yet fulfilling year.” Wieland, who races in the B Mod division at various dirt tracks, donates all winnings to Samaritan’s Hand – a drug and alcohol clinic and sober house in Sheboygan County, and continues to promote his commitment to “Racing for Recovery.”

Growth After Rookie Of The Year Season

Entering the 2020 season, after earning “Rookie of the Year” accolades in 2019 at the Plymouth Dirt Track, Wieland says, “My team knew we needed to race some different tracks against some tough competition to learn and grow in the sport.” The race team competed at 6 different venues throughout the Midwest, including their first appearance at Super Nationals in Boone, IA. Even though COVID-19 delayed the start of the race season and the crew struggled with limited resources, personnel and schedule challenges, Wieland tallied 3 heat wins, 2 B main wins and a feature win on August 22nd at the Plymouth Dirt Track.

This year’s winnings totaled $1,490 and Wheels Racing added an additional $510 to donate an even $2,000 to Samaritan’s Hand in Sheboygan. Wieland is looking forward to being back behind the wheel in a new car for the 2021 racing season.
